Most pipe smokers need little introduction to the Peterson brand. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, the company traces its origins to 1874 when two brothers, Fredrich and Heinrich Kapp, opened a tobacco shop on Grafton Street. Charles Peterson was a pipemaker who joined them in 1895 after inventing his famous Peterson "System" (a moisture collecting reservoir) a few years earlier. The company survived tumultuous years in Ireland and we collectors pay attention to the nomenclature which changed with the times as pipes were designated "EIRE," "IRISH FREE STATE," "MADE IN IRELAND" and finally "MADE IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND." The company was so successful that it opened production facilities in London as early as 1930 and Melbourne, Australia in 1958! It continues to be a dominant pipemaker with a large following of ardent collectors around the world!

Anybody here know anything about Peterson Made in Melbourne pipes? Anybody got one? I've never seen one.
