Dear brothers,
I've heard that the production of Dunhill tobaccos cancelled. I've heard this from an U.K. based online store but I couldn't be sure as still there is Dunhill tobaccos all Europe. Do you have any idea about the situation at the moment? If realy cancelled, I have to make a huge stok of them |

Good morning Cihan.
AFAIK you can still find them in Germany (manufactured in Germany). The production in UK has stopped a few of years ago.
Your stock may prove to be an investment in the future |

Cihan AFAIK they are going to be discontinued in Germany as well in the near future and you won't be able to find them anywhere in he world. As I am sure you know a lot of Dunhill's classic blends including Elizabethan mixture and Aperitif were withdrawn from the market in 2007 because their production was ceased.
So yup, you better pile them up |

Yeap brother, you're right I have to pile 'em up immediately.
But, what I don't understand is what would be the reason to stop the production of such kind of high quality blends??? |

A first guess is that the market is no longer as big as it would require to sustain them. |

Hello Akanthos,
You won't believe what you're going to read now. Turkey is one of the biggest tobacco suppliers of the World but we can not use our tobacco for our country. The production has already reserved for USA based companies for many many years. Also unfortunately there was only one Turkish pipe-tobacco brand with high quality tobacco but awful aroma. As it was the governments brand there was no improvement with it. But last year the government sold the pipe tobacco manufacturing facility. New owner has entered the market with 4 different aromas. And the name of this new brand is "CHE". Che has tobaccos from Cuba, Malawi and Endoneisa. But they were not able to get any Turkish tobaccos. Also the aroma comes from Holland. They manufacture 4 different types; Vanilla, Chocolate, cherry adn Coconut. Next time while I'm coming to athens, I'll bring you one pouch form each type and you'll taste yourself. But if you ask me, only chocolate get 2 star the rest doesnt worth any €.
Besides the story regarding the made in Turkey tobaccos, unfortunately importing tobacco is not allowed by the laws. So we don't have any other brands like you have here or any other country in Europe. But there is another situation in Turkey which I don't want to write here.
So it's not easy to find a big variety at the moment in Turkey. That's why many of my friends from my Club orders me tobacco when come here in Athens. |
