One christmas santa was behind schedule with his yearly toy run. He went out to the stable to harness up the reindeer and to his dismay, he found that 2 had run away, 1 was pregnant and another had gone lame. What on earth was he going to do. He harnessed up the remainder of his team and set to work loading the sleigh, just as he loaded up the last parcel, one of the runners broke off the sleigh and over it went spilling the toys all over the ice. Goodness, Santa was really stressed out now. He set to work as fast as he could, repairing the broken runner and reloading the sleigh. As he finished he looked at his watch, there was no way he could finish the run on time now. In desperation Santa went into his house and loaded his pipe and poured himself a generous measure of whisky to calm himself before he started his run.
Just then there was a knock at the door and Santa opened it to see a little angel carrying a christmas tree.
"G'day Santa where do you want me to stick the tree" enquired the little angel.
And that boys and girls is how we got the tradition of the little angel sitting on top of the christmas tree.
