Rivaling, perhaps even excelling the cross cut grain of the panels is the large, incredibly well defined birdseye of the front. It's about here you notice perhaps the most stunning aspect of this pipe; the placement and execution of the plateau on the front of the bowl. Rather than coming off as the geologic eruption that many pipe makers attempt, this spotted plateau replicates the wearing and chipping that occurs on ancient, man made statues and buildings.
