It is very sad indeed to hear of the death of Bill Ashton-Taylor.

A few years ago I had the honor of visiting Bill in his workshop in the company of my wife, PCW and Chris Gregory (the web master of the PCoL's original web site).

It is often mentioned by those who have met Bill that he was the quintessential English Gentleman... and that is exactly how I found him to be.

I was able to watch Bill put the finishing touches to two pipes I had chosen from a stock he had prepared to take to the USA for the Chicago show, we then adjourned to "The Thatcher's Arms" for a most enjoyable lunch... a few ales.... lots of pipe talk............ and a pipe.

For me, fond memories, thank you my friends.
